The professional singer from Lithuania, who has a unique voice and fascinates the audience with pieces of various styles. In the year 1996 Rasa entered the Folk Music Department at Klaipėda University Arts Faculty, during the studies she got familiarized with the traditions of folklore and soon became a soloist at the department‘s folklore ensemble.
Earlier Rasa had never thought that Lithuanian songs could become so intimate to her. Later, while trying to improve her vocal skills, she studied jazz speciality where the famous Lithuanian singer Stepas Januška was her tutor.
Rasa Serra is a member of a few music groups, one can listen to her singing at jazz clubs and festivals.
Since the year 2004 Rasa sings with a vocal group "Cappella’A" which won a silver prize at prestigious international contest "VOKAL TOTAL 2006" in Austria in 2006.
After having graduated from the jazz music studies the performer didn‘t forget her love for the folk songs. Her clear and rich, and softly rippling voice adds a remarkable beauty to the songs of the post-folklore project "DONIS" and makes her exclusive between the other folk music performers.
Military-historical songs‘ album "Bite lingo" recorded by Rasa became one of the most significant events of the modern national music in 2006. The "DONIS" project added a nice focus to their 2006 performance list: it was nominated in two categories and beared a prize at the "Ethno group/singer of the year (folk/ neofolk/ world/ roots)" category at Lithuania‘s alternative music awards "A.LT 2006".
In the "Album of the year" category project‘s "DONIS" album "Bite Lingo" gave up to the indie rock representatives "BRAINERS" and their album "Disco Balls".
A.LT – are the music awards of none-commercial character arranged by the independent music recording/producing companies, music websites. The awards cover music of miscallaneous genres and styles, strive to evaluate best groups and performers, events, and alternative music promoters. The awards committee consists of the founders of the awards (representatives of the recording agencies, mass-media, creative associations), also music critics and proficients.
Also the musical journal of the city ˝UrbaNation˝ appreciated the "DONIS" project and elected it as the most significant neofolk project of the year 2006.
In 2009 the singer together with the group "Cappella’A" participated at the international contest "VOKAL TOTAL 2009" in Austria and earned the golden diploma. It is the only quartet in Lithuania performing various pieces of jazz, pop, soul, and gospel music.
In 2009 the singer participated at Lithuania‘s Song festival "THE MILLENIUM SONG FESTIVAL OF LITHUANIA - SONGS OF THE CENTURIES", where she performed folklore songs solo.
Performer also recorded a few archaic songs for the Klaipėda‘ s techno music legends "Exem".
During the visual and musical art project "Pangea" in Portugal Rasa Serra recorded the anthem of Lithuania.
Also her forthcoming solo album will be none the less patriotic as the performer intends to dedicate her disk of authentic Dzūkija region songs to the Lithuanian emigrants: "That they would not forget the nostalgic songs of their country" – the singer says.
